A Plea to the Pagan Community: Be Allies Now

By Pagan Solidarity

We are Pagans. We care for the Earth, and Nature, and all people as vessels of the Divine. And…

People are hurting. Yes, there are always people hurting somewhere – but much of the hurt here in the United States and around the world is brand new and growing, and demands action by people of good will.

The ending of U.S. AID programs means that more children are dying worldwide for lack of medical care or clean water. Immigrants are being deported, sometimes to foreign prisons, without due process. Federal employees, capable public servants, have lost their livelihoods. Women who need reproductive healthcare cannot find it. Trans kids are targeted. People on Medicaid are losing their healthcare. Foreign students at American colleges are threatened with expulsion. The religious liberties of minority spiritual paths are threatened. The list goes on.

And the planet is hurting. We see the effects of climate change, spreading pollution in the seas, the loss of vast tracts of forest. (She will recover; we may not).

It is time to be allies to all the vulnerable people, and to Mother Earth, more than we ever have before.

Pick someone, a person or a group or a part of the planet, who is hurting—and step up. Communicate: let them know they’re not alone. Listen; ask what they need. Then help them, with your time, your attention, your skills and effort, your voice, and your money. Enlist your friends. The times require action, and more action. In our Resources section on the Pagan Solidarity website is a list of organizations working to save lives—please support them.

We are Pagans. We care about the Earth and Her creatures. Let’s show it with compassionate action today, now.
