Stock Up Easy Now

In 2020, we had a harsh lesson when supply chains that keep our culture running become stressed from the pandemic. Now in 2025, they may be interrupted for other reasons: widespread tariffs against nearly every trade partner, viral infections of poultry and cattle, and reduced federal assistance for American farmers and ranchers.

So far, we haven’t seen much impact, but if shortages do begin to occur, we may again see serious delays, shortages, and price hikes—especially on imported goods. If you wait for the news to report on shortages-it will be too late. Get ahead of the curve because the news is going to create panic buying. Here’s a practical list of basic necessities to consider stocking up on in advance.

  • rice, beans, lentils
  • pasta, grains, nuts
  • flour, yeast, baking powder
