One of the more likely ways to get your views raised to your elected representative is to CALL them. That’s right, on the PHONE. Letters have less impact, and adding your signature to a petition even less. Use the resources below to find who to call and guidelines for stating your view strongly and succinctly.

Tips
- Ask for the staff member in charge of whatever you’re calling about.
- Give them your ZIP code. They won’t always ask for it, but make sure you give it to them, so they can mark it down.
- Try to make it personal. “I voted for you in the last election and I’m worried/happy/whatever,” or “as a single mother” etc.
- Pick one specific thing per day to focus on. The staffer is trying to figure out what to mark you down for on their lists.
- Be clear on what you want. “I’m disappointed that the Senator…” or “I want to thank the Senator for their vote on…” Don’t leave any ambiguity.
