For Pagans engaged in activism, self-care is not an indulgence or a retreat from the work. It is a sacred responsibility. To stand for justice, protection of the vulnerable, the Earth, or the dignity of marginalized communities is to place oneself in a long lineage of priestesses, healers, guardians, and witnesses. That lineage has always known a truth modern activism sometimes forgets: the flame must be tended, or it burns out.
